He sent two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, to Macedonia, while he stayed in the province of Asia a little longer.
There was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew it would
be a long way to travel so he packed his suitcase with two things, twinkies and
root beer. After walking about three blocks he met an old woman sitting in a
park watching the birds around her. The boy sat down next to her and just as he
was about to take a drink of his root beer.
He looked at her and thought she looked hungry. So, he offered
her a twinkie which she took gratefully and smiled at him.
Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so
he offered her a root beer, she smiled again as she took it. The boy was happy.
They sat there all afternoon just eating and smiling. It began to get dark, and
the boy got up to go home but after taking just a few steps the boy ran back to
her to give her a hug and the old woman gave him the biggest smile ever.
When the boy got home his mum asked what he had been doing that
made him look so happy. He replied, “I had lunch with God,” and before his mum
could respond he said, “And do you know what, she had the most beautiful smile
I’ve ever seen,”
Meanwhile the old woman returned home full of joy, her son saw
the look of peace on her face and asked what she had done in the afternoon, she
said sha had twinkies in the park with God. Before he could say anything, she
said to him, “And do you know what, he’s a lot younger than I thought.”
The moral of this story is that God is everywhere, you just have to look.
I think I read this story on FaceBook (not sure) but it tells it
all. God is all around us. they may not look like God,
he could look like the man cutting his neighbour’s grass, or the girl washing
her aged neighbour’s window. We see people all around us taking that extra step
to help strangers, old or young.
We can all be an image of God to others, it does not need to be
something physical because not everyone is that fit but there are plenty of
ways to help. Personally, I sometimes call bingo numbers, even though I detest
bingo, if anybody in here does not know by my complaints they must be deaf. One
of the inmates with the onset of dementia has her daughter come in to read to
her, another guy comes in every evening just to have a cuppa and a chat with
one of the men. There are so many ways to help someone else.
Prayer
Living God, help us to use our time and talents helping those
who are less able than ourselves. So many people do not even have someone to
speak to from day to day and just another voice speaking directly to them is
like a gift from You, help us to be the bearer of the gift that You would give.
Even those who have health issues of their own may be able to help someone else,
with Your help and direction we are so much more able to help others in the
ways we can be of help. We come to You in Jesus precious name, amen.
