Thought for the Day - Wednesday 3 February
Thought for the day Wednesday February 3rd 2021
Psalm 59:16 (New Living Translation)
But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.
One of the things I’ve missed most in the past year is singing songs of praise along with others. In conversations I’ve had during this time, I know that I am not alone. Our verse this morning reminds us that singing is a way of telling people about our God, of his strength and of the love he has for each and every one of us. It also provides us with a means of saying thanks to our creator.
The bible on many occasions associates darkness with evil and with the difficult times in our lives, the times when we are at our lowest ebb, but we know that as sure as season follows season, morning will follow darkness and will fill the world with light once again, and light is associated with the glory of God, his goodness and his mercy.
Life is really challenging for most of us at this time to a greater or lesser degree, but today’s reading serves to remind us that it will come to an end. Having God in our lives should make us feel more content, more patient and more able to cope with the current challenges. God is with us in the dark times and it is because of him the bright times will surely come.
Prayer.
Heavenly Father, help us to be ever aware of your presence with us every day of our lives, everywhere we go and in everything we say or do and we thank you that no matter what difficulties we face, you will provide the solution at the appropriate time and in the appropriate way. Amen
