Thought for fhe Day - Wednesday 28 October
Thought for the Day – Wednesday 28th October
‘By his blessing they multiply greatly, and he does not let their cattle decrease.’ (Psalm 107: 38)
‘Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever.’ (Psalm 146: 5-6)
How good are you at Maths and how good are you at ratios in particular and what does either of these have to do with loving ourselves more?
Well, I suppose if we are to love ourselves more then we need to remember that for every one thing that goes wrong in our lives there are probably more than a hundred blessings in our lives for each one and that’s a great ratio!
So, this week, as we ‘sit’ with God and wait for his voice – let us not take anything for granted.
Let’s take time to watch the wind blow the leaves around the garden, take time to watch the water flow from the tap or the rain from the heavens, take time to appreciate every mouthful of food we eat and every other little part of our day and take time to remember that each and every one of those blessings come from our God who loves us, who is our hope, who keeps faith with us forever.
Prayer
Loving God,
Our life companion and our guide without whom we would be lost and be living without a sense of direction in our lives, wanderers in wildernesses of our own making. We praise you for being so gracious towards us, for guiding us so generously towards a sense of freedom and new life in you, for all the many blessings in our lives. May we joyfully respond to you with thanksgiving, raising our songs of praise to you for all that you have done, for all that you are doing, and for all that you will continue to do for us and for all people through the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
