Thought for the Day - Wednesday 12 August

Thought for the Day – Wednesday 12th August

‘Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.’

‘’ (1 Peter 5: v7)

Well schools are beginning to return today and once again Covid has led to changes in practice e.g. not every pupil starting on the same day or at the same time, finishing at different times, classroom layouts changed, physical distancing challenges for pupils and teachers, new ways of moving around school and between classes, the possible requirement to use personal protective equipment.

All the above comes in addition to the normal anxieties of parents and children at the beginning of a new term getting used to new lessons, new teachers, new classrooms maybe even new friends.  It has always been a stressful time for children and their families and no doubt, for teachers and support staff as well.

Government nationally and locally are doing their best to seek and listen to guidance on which they can base their bigger decisions and all this while dealing with how this unpredictable pandemic is affecting all areas of society that fall within their responsibility.

Another translation of today’s words of scripture says: ‘Cast all your anxieties on him because he cares for you’.  I feel for those individuals young and old who have never been made aware that this option exists.  We should all be looking at ways of increasing this awareness.

Prayers

Loving God,

We thank you for loving us to the extent that we can take all our anxieties to you because you love us so much that you will bear them on our behalf.  Please help us find ways of getting this message to all those who would benefit from it.  Be with all the teachers, support staff and children this week and help them cope with the changes introduced to make schools safer places.  Lord, we would ask you to be with all levels of government and endow them with wisdom and integrity in their decision making.    Amen.
