Thought for week ending 19 September 2025

I hope this finds you well.  I have been asked to fill in for Stewarthope he enjoys his wee holiday.
Let me share with you from a wee book I use in my preaching "Noo wan day, as Jesus wis takin a wee bit dauner alang the beach, he saw two brithers, Simon Peter an Andy, castin  their net inty the watter. 'C ' mon wi me' Jesus said tae them, 'an ah'll teach ye-- no tae catch fish, but tae catch men.' Right there an then, they left the fishin an went wi Jesus

No matter how you read it, it makes you feel just that wee bit closer to our Lord and the best way to be close to our Heavenly Father is to talk to him  it's good to know he is always listening. I remember reading a story that makes you think especially in this world today.
There a fable which tells of three apprentice devils who were coming to earth to finish their apprenticeship. They were talking to satan about their plans to tempt and ruin the lives of men and women. the first said "I will tell them there is no God" satan said that will not delude many, for they know there is a God. The second said "I will tell them there is no hell" satan answered you will deceive no one that way, men and women know even now that there is a hell for sin. The third one said "I will tell them there is no hurry" GO said satan and you will ruin them by the thousands. We do not know when our Lord is coming so we must be ready. It says in John chap. 11 verse 25 "I am the resurrection  and the life whoever believes in me will never die, no one else can make this promise and keep it , keep the faith and keep looking and talking to our Lord.

I will close with a nice thought, "Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly"

Heavenly Father we say thanks for everything, family, friends, people we meet who change our loves for the better, But most of all thank you for dying on a cross and saving us for eternity, bless each and every one we know and keep us safe in the arms of Jesus. Amen
