Judges 16:22

Thought for Wednesday 13 November 2024

Judges 16:22

But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.

We do have to fall. His eye is on the smallest bird, he knows the amount of hairs on our head. What we need to do is open our hearts and make Him Lord of our spirits, Lord of our minds and Lord of our bodies. Let the Unlimited God be the God who is able to do all things needed in your life and family.                                                                                                          (Tony Abram)

Watching a small clip of an interview, the interviewed man said that he heard a distinct voice in his head saying, “Even the very hairs of your head are all numbered”, which is found in Matthew 10:30. However the young man had complete alopecia, so of course he had kind of reminded God about this. Later, he heard the voice again saying the same thing, he also said the same thing.

He heard the voice again in the next few days, then it stopped. During the interview he took off his cap and there was the dark fuzz that preceded a full growth of hair. This was about 5/6 weeks after he had heard the ‘voice’. Hair was also visible on the young man’s arms, which were completely void of hair in the photos he had shown.

The reading from Judges 16:22 is from the story of Samson. We know his hair was cut and his head shaved, after his eyes were put out. However, his hair grew again. I have often wondered, why the Philistines allowed Samson’s hair to grow back, when they knew it was the key to his great strength?

It was because their god was Dagon, (god of prosperity, fertility, and agriculture) and he was not a forgiving god. They didn’t know that Samson’s God was a forgiving God. They didn’t think Samson’s God would have forgiven Samson for betraying Him. If it had been one of the champions of their god, he would have lost his head.

We know we have a forgiving God, and we are grateful for all the times we have received His forgiveness. Would a false god or idol have sent his son to die for us? Jesus paid the price for the sins we are guilty of, a price we could never have paid. His blood bought our souls, so they could be washed whiter than snow.

Prayer

Wonderful Father, we are truly thankful for the sacrifice of Jesus. We did not even need to ask, in Your great mercy Your plan for the world included this. Lord God, even knowing how sinful we would be, You still loved us enough to die for us. You are ever faithful toward us; we ask that You deepen our faith and trust in You. Lord Jesus, thank You for being with us as we live each day, thank You for sending the holy Spirit as You promised. Please let the Spirit live within us, teaching us, guiding us on the path You laid out for us, comforting us and protecting us. Without You, Father Son and Spirit we would not know life at all. Thank You for our lives and for all the provision You supply. Amen.
