Genesis 1: 1-3 NIVUK
The
beginning
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness
was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.3 And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.
John 1: 1-5 NIVUK
The
Word became flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that
has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light
of all mankind. 5 The light
shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
I know that all of you know what we
were celebrating yesterday. The coming of the very word of God in human form.
Jesus Christ is the word of God, He was the word
that God spoke at the very beginning of time. The Word that made creation,
God’s voice! Who can doubt the power of Almighty God when, by just speaking, He
caused all things to spring into being? His voice brought planets into existence. The voice created the climate on earth that
made all life possible’
In John 1: 1 we are told that Jesus
is not only the Word of God, but He is also God.
The light of all humanity. When we are going through times of darkness Jesus is
the light at the end of the tunnel. However, if we call on Him, He will be there to hold our hand as we travel to
the end.
Sometimes we may feel like a puppet
with broken strings, nothing going right, illness, loss. Jesus is the only one
able to put us back together, He knows how to because He made us. We did not appear with a set of instructions;
Jesus placed every cell in our body exactly where it should be without
instructions (that could be why men are not good at reading them).
When we are broken, all we need to do is hold out our hand to Jesus Christ
for repair. We do this by using our voice. We pray and keep praying but we must
realise that an answer is not always instant. In face sometimes we need to
remember when praying for healing, the damage is sometimes too great to be
healed in this life but as Christians we have the assurance of healing when the
person arrives home in heaven. Then Jesus can work on the injury or illness in
Person. We also have the confidence of knowing that we will see them again,
they are not gone from us, they are waiting for us to join them when the time
comes.
I wish you all the blessings and joy of the
Holy Child now and always.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You
are The Christ who made us. We thank You for our lives. Not only did You make
us in the beginning, You took on a frail human body to live as one of us with all our
temptations and weaknesses, only to die on a wooden cross carrying our sins as
a sacrifice on Your death. Praise God that You arose on the third day, You defeated death so that we could be sure of eternal
life. Lord Jesus, we pray also for those who do not know You, that we may be able to share this
knowledge with them. Give us the words to speak, please. We come to You in Your
own precious name, amen
