Thought for Friday 30 July   Luke 12:25-26 NIVUK   Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? We all worry sometimes, some people worry if they have nothing to worry about. However, it’s not supposed to be like that. We are supposed to give our worries to God, for Him to take care of. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out like that, we may think it’s too small a thing to bother God with but if it is so small, why do we worry about it? As today’s verse says, we cannot add an hour to our lives by worrying so why do we do it? We have God’s word that He will take care of us. Jesus says in Matthew 6:25-34 ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life ? ... Every aspect of our lives is in God’s hands so why do we worry? He watches over us like a new mother or father watches over a new born baby in its crib. We should be like that baby, trusting our Father by instinct and without fear. He will never let us down! Prayer Father God, thank you for the care you take of us. We ask that You forgive us for not trusting our lives fully into your hands, especially knowing that You have promised to be with us through all our troubles so that we do not need to worry about anything. Help us to trust You as we should. Amen
