Thought for the Day - Wednesday 24 March
Thought for Wednesday 24th March
from Barbara Thomson
Acts2, vv42-44
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common.
Wouldn’t it be nice to all be together and to talk and eat together? But then, we do not need to physically be together to be part of the same, whole community.
This past few months our joint acts of worship and communion have been shared, even though we have all been in our separate homes. Only joined by the technology of Zoom.
It still felt as if we shared the experience together. It still felt as if we were coming together as one family in God’s love.
So if you have been unable to physically join up with others please be assured that God’s love can encompass everyone and that He will hold out his arms to give all his people a huge loving hug.
His love is everlasting.
There will be a time when we can all gather together, even if we will still need to stay 6 feet apart. Until then we can enjoy the communal hug from God.
Prayer
Dear Lord, help us to consider that you are everywhere, not just within the walls of the building that we call the church.
We ask that you strengthen us while we try to keep together and in touch no matter how far apart, physically, we may be, and we ask that you send your love to all, to warm our hearts and sooth our cares.
Amen
