Thought for the Day - Monday 22 February
Thought for Monday 22 February 2021.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!
A topic not often spoken about for today’s thought, but one we have almost all had to deal with over the past year. Funerals!
I attended a funeral last week (online). It just wasn’t the same without the personal interaction of the family but until things are under control it is right that we keep everyone safe.
The reason I mention this is a question I read on facebook that same day.
If you are cremated can you still get to Heaven? I’ve heard this question more often recently, and the conclusion I come to, and it is only my thought, is YES! We surely must be able to get to heaven.
I think, it’s not the body we have now that rises, it’s the spirit of the person we were, so it doesn’t matter where our spirits are, they will rise to meet Jesus when He comes again. When we get to Heaven we will have new forms, different from our human bodies. We will have spiritual bodies, no need for human flesh and blood ones. C. S. Lewis said, “you don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body”.
Ecclesiastes 12:6-7 says… and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
In over 50 translations of the Bible, only two mention the word grave. All the others say that THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST when they die will rise! Praise God!
I know some people still believe that cremation precludes our entry to Heaven, but what about those who have been burned to death because they worship God and believe in His Son?
What we can be sure of is that we have such an amazing and faithful God that nothing can separate us from Him, not even death.
Prayer
Eternal Father
We know that You will never let us be lost to You. You love us too much for that, help us to love You to the utmost of our human frailty. Let nothing stand in the way of that love so that we may live sharing it with all those we meet daily. We remember all those who are suffering today and leave them in your gentle hands. Amen.
