Rather than search for readings from the bible that I am familiar with, I prefer to go to a website called bible gateway that provides a daily scripture reading.  This has led me to parts of scripture that I may not usually visit.  This site also lets you read passages from different versions of the bible and I c   Today’s reading is most appropriate following hard on the heels of Valentine’s day and the many and varied demonstrations of love that took place yesterday.  Along with Christmas and Easter, it has become much more commercial with a whole lot of companies happy to take your money and provide the cards, flowers, chocolate, champagne, balloons or whatever it takes to show love towards a special person in your life. In today’s reading, John talks of ‘real love’ and this is the love that God showed to us by sending his only Son into the world and offering Him as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
