Thought Ftiday 29 January
John 8:12 (NIVUK)
‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.’
We seem to be living in ‘dark times’ at the moment. Every time we think we see and end to it, we are put into yet another lockdown.
Almost everyone is going about as if there was a dark cloud hovering over them. Not like today’s cloud, heavy with rain, maybe even snow. However, today’s cloud has something we sometimes miss. The sun is still shining above the cloud, this is what gives the cloud it’s ‘silver lining’. Every cloud has one, God never forgets to wake the sun each morning.
People are naturally worried because of the virus. Worried about family, jobs, money even their own health. Praise God that there is now a vaccine and therefore a chance of an end in sight.
However even the cloud we feel weighted down by has a silver lining. The difference with this cloud is that the lining is not the sun that’s shining on this one. It’s the light of The Son of God. Just like the rain clouds we see, the ones we are burdened will pass and sun will be there again. We should have confidence in Him, He will never lead us the wrong way. It might not be the way we want to go but it will be the right way.
Prayer
Lord God help us to see your goodness and mercy. We question Your motives too often; about things we should be trusting to You. Help us to have that trust and to have the confidence to believe that You DO know best. Amen
