Thought for the Day - Wednesday 10 March
Thought for Wednesday 10 March 2021 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, (Colossians 3:23)
How many times have you been doing something that wasn’t your favourite thing and you decided to cut it short? We get fed up and think nobody will see that bit, so I’ll skip it, it’s time for a cuppa anyway.
As anyone who knows me will testify, I hate and abhor housework. I’ll gladly do craft and cardmaking all day long, but housework…forget it! Of course, like a lot of people last year, I had a huge declutter and clean up and I have to say that I did feel good about it. As I got into the right frame of mind I found myself singing old choruses from Sunday school and Salvation Army days, this lifted my spirits and made things easier.
It sounds crazy but it started me thinking about what if The Lord had come to visit me (physically) and couldn’t even get a seat on my couch. It made me all the more particular. I was now doing this for Him, so that He could get a seat on my couch. In my mind that became a reality and I wonder now if my heart had been as cluttered as my house and Jesus was having to stand around waiting for my to clear a place for Him in my heart.
Although I had accepted Him into my heart, had I really made Him feel welcome?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for Your patience and understanding. Even though we have accepted You into our hearts, have we always given You the welcome you deserve. It may not be a cluttered heart like mine but whatever is taking the ‘seat’ that should be Yours help us to clear it. May we always be sure that we work for Your comfort in whatever we are doing so that You will always feel welcome where we are. Amen.
To the Glory of the Lord.
